n+1 argumentoi elegantin kiinnostavasti siitä, että kasvissyöntiaallot historiassa ovat yleensä liittyneet laajempaan yhteiskuntakriittiseen liikehdintään kuin eläinetiikkaan sinänsä.

Ehkä tämän laajemman kontekstin vuoksi kasvissyönti usein nykyisinkin ideologisoituu terveysvaikutuksia tai muuta mitattavaa pidemmälle.
